Court Appointed Special Advocates: CASA is a statewide program of the RI Family Court dedicated to helping abused and neglected children find their way through the RI Child Welfare and Family Court Systems to safe, loving, permanent homes. CASA is recruiting volunteers 21 years of age or older, to be a powerful voice in court for these children’s best interests. Currently our office provides advocacy to approximately 3, 000 abused and neglected children, a large percentage of who could use the services of a CASA Volunteer. We have a particular need for men and people of color. Participants must commit to the following: a minimum of 18 months commitment in the program, 30 hours of pre-service training, and 8-10 hours per month of time commitment. Our next training class will be on September 12th, 2005 from 5-8pm.
