One of the best lake trout and landlocked salmon fisheries in the state, Newfound Lake is a 4,100-acre lake in the central part of the state, at Bridgewater, NH. Green trees and rolling hills surround the 20 miles of shoreline which is filled with clear, cold water from underground springs. Big lake trout and Atlantic salmon draw anglers from throughout the New England area in hopes of catching a trophy. Rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel and bluegill also deserve attention. There is a public boat launch ramp at Wellington State Park, plus three others around the lake. A marina, campgrounds, lodging and other conveniences are at or nearby the lake.
