Largemouth Bass

Current Report: Fair To Good
Outlook: Good
The water temperature is in the low to mid 40's and bass are getting active as they work their way to the shallows for the spawn, and for feeding. Small presentations, like worms, jerkbaits and small-profile jigs are catching fish now. Once the water reaches the mid 50's the bass will be more aggressively chasing crankbaits, vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits and topwater lures. When the bass are finicky, a stick worm, rigged wacky style, is convincing bass to strike. A few fish in the 3 to 4-pound class are being caught, with some bigger ones expected during the spawn.
Smallmouth Bass

Current Report: Good To Very Good
Outlook: Very Good
Smallmouth bass love the cool, clear water here in Ossipee Lake. The smallies are holding off the bank in 20 feet of water or more, waiting on the shallows to warm. Drop-shots and tube baits, fished on light line are now catching some smallmouth. Jerkbaits, fished above the drop-offs, particularly along the west side of the lake, are also catching some nice fish. Mid-range crankbaits are a good way to cover lots of water once the smallmouth move up onto the bank. In cold, windy, cloudy and rainy days, the fishing is often good for smallies.
Rainbow Trout

Current Report: Good
Outlook: Good
3,400 rainbow trout are reported to be stocked in Ossipee Lake this year, continuing an ongoing stocking program. Rainbows are biting now on small spinners, miniature crankbaits, swimbaits, nightcrawlers, salmon eggs and prepared baits The diet of these trout consists of insects, small fishes and crustaceans. Anglers using flies or small lures, imitating their natural food, are catching fish.
