Lahontan Cutthroat Trout
The Lahontan Cutthroat Trout is the state fish for Nevada, and is the largest of all cutthroat trout. The state, and world, record was caught here and weighed 41 pounds. Trolling, between 1.2 and 3.4 miles per hour, in deep water is how most of these cutthroats are being caught. Using sonar is a key to eliminating water and locating fish. Classic trout spoons, Dodgers, Needlefish and flatfish are all popular lures here. There are 80 miles of shoreline, much of which is easily accessible for fishing from the bank.
