Fishing At Pyramid Lake
Fishing for cutthroat trout and Sacramento perch at Pyramid Lake in Nevada.
Home to monster cutthroat trout, Pyramid Lake holds the world record Lahontan cutthroat at 11 pounds 1 ounce. There are 80 miles of shoreline, much of which is easily accessible, around this 120,000-acre lake in the west-central part of the state, 4 miles north of Nixon, NV. Bait is not allowed as this lake is limited to artificial lures only. Most fishing from the bank is done along the southwestern shoreline. In addition to the unique approach of ladder fishing, anglers troll or cast from boats to reach trout, which move about aggressively in search of food. Perch also reside here and can be taken on small artificial lures and jigs. Popcorn Boat Ramp and the Pelican Point Boat Ramp are the two primary spots for launching larger pleasure and fishing boats. Canoes, kayaks and car-top boats can be launched most anywhere there is public access. Pyramid Lake Marina and RV Park has camping, dining and a general store.
