Fishing At Lake Maurepas
AKA: Lac Maurepas, Maurepas Lake
Fishing for largemouth bass, spotted bass, channel catfish, black crappie, white crappie, bluegill, flier sunfish, green sunfish, longear sunfish, redear sunfish and warmouth at Lake Maurepas in Louisiana.
Home to bass, crappie, catfish and bream, Lake Maurepas is a 58,000-acre lake in the south central part of the state, at Maurepas, LA. This quality fishery is overlooked by many locals who prefer to fish for speckled trout and redfish in Lake Pontchartrain nearby. For fishing enthusiasts that enjoy catching big slab crappie, plus quality bass, catfish and sunfish, Lake Maurepas is worth the trip. Over 40 miles of shoreline, lined with cypress trees and vegetation, await anglers. Pete's Landing Boat Launch and the Port Manchac boat ramp off Highway 15 are the two main boat launch ramps. Larger pleasure, pontoon and fishing boats are recommended for the main lake area, but kayaks, canoes and jon boats work well for fishing the shallows, rivers and bayous.
