Popular Fish Species Glenn Cunningham Lake, NE
Walleye

Current Report: Fair To Good
Outlook: Fair To Good
Because of the 5 mph speed limit, Glenn Cunningham Lake is an ideal lake for trolling, which is how many of the walleye are being caught here. Anglers are finding walleye in the shallows, especially rocky areas. Throughout Summer, early in the morning and from dusk to long after dark are good times to catch walleye, as they move shallow to feed. Locals report catching walleye using jigs, spoons, crankbaits, and worm harness spinners.
Black Crappie

Current Report: Fair To Good
Outlook: Good
Most of the eastern shores are loaded with vegetation, which attracts baitfish and crappie. Crappie fishing has been okay, but not spectacular. As Spring is warming the water, crappie are in a spawning mood and being caught shallow - from 3 to 6 feet of water. Locals are casting small crappie jigs or live minnows around cover. Once the spawn is over, and the hot Summer sun warms the shallows, crappie retreat to depths of 8 to 10 feet or deeper. Light tackle with 4 lb to 8 lb line is ideal.
Largemouth Bass

Current Report: Good
Outlook: Good
The lake doesn't get much fishing pressure, so this is a quick get-away for catching a few bass. The typical bass are 11" to 14", but there are larger ones swimming here. Frog fishing and buzzbaits are popular as the water warms, which this shallow lake does quickly. Worms, jigs, spinnerbaits and vibrating jigs are catching largemouth bass here, as are plenty of other lures.
