Famous for excellent crappie and white bass fishing, Hubbard Creek Reservoir (Hubbard Creek Lake) is a 14,900-acre lake in the north-central part of the state, at Breckenridge, TX. Catfish, bass, hybrid stripers, sunfish and gar also present admirable fishing options. Florida-strain largemouth bass grow big in this impoundment, as do the catfish. Aquatic vegetation and timber are standard cover for bass and crappie, as are boat houses and boat docks. The lake level fluctuates considerably, and depending on lake levels there are numerous areas with access to the shoreline for bank fishing. To facilitate boat launching there are several boat launch ramps around the lake, and numerous places to portage a canoe, kayak or small fishing boat.
