Fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, black crappie, white crappie, bluegill, white bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass and spotted gar at Possum Kingdom Lake in Central Texas.

Adjacent to Possum Kingdom State Park, Possom Kingdom Lake is a 17,500-acre lake northwest of Fort Worth. Fishing opportunities abound along the over 300 miles of shoreline and countless pockets and coves. Bank fishing is popular in areas with access to the shoreline. Much of the shoreline has a variety of aquatic vegetation, more during the warm months than in colder months.

Striped bass, hybrid bass, white bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, sunfish and gar all make their home here. Multiple boat launch ramps facilitate boat launching for those wishing to fish, sightsee or water ski. Kayaks, canoes and small fishing boats can be portaged from multiple areas around the lake. When pursuing schooling fish (stripers, white bass, hybrids and some bass) try to locate schools of baitfish - chances are your quarry will be close by. Baitfish tends to move shallow in spring and fall, then deep again in winter and summer months. Catfish can be caught all year long, and tend to migrate along creek channels. Crappie can be caught around docks, brush and standing timber.
