Smallmouth Bass

Current Report: Fair
Outlook: Good To Very Good
Cascade Reservoir is well known as an quality smallmouth bass fishery. Cool, clear water is ideal habitat for smallies and the lake is chalked full of forage to keep them growing at a good pace. Locals report catching smallies on mid-range crankbaits, topwater baits and tube jigs. Smallmouth are consistently caught on rocky shorelines and points from around Poison Creek Campground to the Cabarton Day Use Area.
Yellow Perch

Current Report: Good To Very Good
Outlook: Good To Very Good
According to reports by Idaho Fish and Game, ice fishing for perch, as well as other species, is going great for 2025. The perch are fat and healthy, and good fishing should carry forward through the coming years. Yellow perch are a steady food source for larger, predator fish, plus fun fishing for anglers and make for very tasty table fare. Ice jigs, bright jig heads and underspins tipped with minnow-shaped plastics are catching a lot of fish. Small spoons and live bait are catching their fair share as well.
Rainbow Trout

Current Report: Fair To Good
Outlook: Good To Very Good
The diet of a rainbow trout consists of insects, small fishes and crustaceans. In Spring and early Summer, use flies or small lures, imitating their natural food, to tempt them into biting. Small spinners, miniature crankbaits and swimbaits are catching rainbows, as are nightcrawlers, salmon eggs and prepared baits. During Winter, once the ice is safe, ice fishing for rainbows can be very productive, often as shallow as one foot below the ice.
