Blue Mesa Reservoir, CO

An impoundment on the Gunnison River, Blue Mesa Reservoir is a 10,000-acre reservoir located in the southwest corner of the state, 10 miles west of Gunnison, CO. It is the largest lake in Colorado and brags 96 miles of shoreline. Elk Creek Marina, boat launch ramps and several campgrounds enhance any trip here for boating camping and fishing.

The lake provides excellent fishing for trout, salmon and perch. One of the features of the lake is its deep water for big lake trout and salmon. Ice fishing in winter can produce some good fish frys as well as the chance to catch a lunker.

Public Boat Launch Ramps & Landings

Curecanti National Recreation Area Launch Ramp
This is a four-lane, concrete ramp with docks and lots of paved parking. It is located mid-lake on the north side of the lake at Elk Creek Marina.

Iola Boat Ramp
Located in the southeast corner of the lake, this is a really nice launch area with a four-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and lots of paved parking.

Lake Fork Boat Ramp
Located in the southwest corner of the lake, this is a really nice launch area with a four-lane, concrete ramp with docks and lots of paved parking.
