Popular Fish Species Lake Glenville, NC
Largemouth Bass

Current Report:Good To Very Good
Outlook: Very Good To Excellent
Thanks to a bountiful supply of bluegill and blueback herring, Lake Glenville has a ton of big bass swimming its waters. A wide variety of lures are catching nice largemouth here, with shad pattern crankbaits and jerkbaits at the top of the list. From early March through Fall, rocky banks are producing well with both lures. In Summer and mid-day on most warm days, the bass are moving off these banks, out to ledges and structure. Locals report switching to worms, jigs and spoons for these deeper fish.
Walleye

Current Report: Good
Outlook: Good To Very Good
Due to a continual stocking of walleye, Lake Glenville has a very solid population of quality fish. Spring and Fall are reported to be the best time of year to catch quality walleye here. Walleye like to slow cruise around flats and structure close to deep water. They primarily feed close to the bottom. Blade bait and swimbait worked slowly are effective, as are jigs tipped with minnows or nightcrawlers. Locals also report spoons, deep-diving crankbaits, and worm harness spinners are also catching nice walleye while trolling.
Rainbow Trout

Current Report: Good To Very Good
Outlook: Good To Very Good
Thanks to stocking efforts by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, Lake Glenville is a popular rainbow trout fishery. The diet of a rainbow trout consists of insects, small fishes and crustaceans. Use flies or small lures, imitating their natural food, to tempt them into biting. Locals report using small spinners, miniature crankbaits and swimbaits, as well as nightcrawlers, salmon eggs and prepared baits.
